I have a question. We have lira (pre euro) Can these be converted into Euros? is it best to do this in the US or in Italy?
ReplyDeleteThe national bank of Italy, Banca d'Italia, is the only place you can exchange lira and they will continue to accept them until February 28, 2012.
ReplyDeleteThere is a branch of Banca d'Italia in Florence, not far from the Duomo, where you can make the exchange. (There is also one in Siena, but it will be closed on Sunday when we will be there.)
You need to have a fair amount of Lira to make it worthwhile, however. The final set rate of exchange was nearly 2,000 Lira to one Euro.
