    I also like Rick Steve's books --- I've gotten a lot of helpful information and found some great out of the way places using this guides.

    Rick Steves also offers free podcasts on his web site, along with free PDF map files. There are three different ones for Florence, which you can download here: http://www.ricksteves.com/news/travelnews/0602/italy_downloads.htm
